Leave to all of us food/chocolate junkies to work out ways to improve

our " fix " !

If you want to add more ingredients and roll in coconut or nuts or such, I

think you will definitely have to use butter instead of butter spray -- when I

make them they are pretty powdery -- mostly little " clumps " that I can

somewhat press together. My typically method of delivery is the spoon to mouth!

Someone had mentioned using unsweetened carob chips - I've looked for

nutritional information on those this morning on the Web, but can't seem to

find them. I suspect they are pretty high in fat (including saturated fat)... I

know, I know.. for all you RNY folks, you don't " worry " about the fat... but,

I do!

For people unconcerned about fat (true Atkins followers) I would

really recommend that you use REAL butter, slightly softened -- then " cream " it

(for all you functionally illiterate baking folks that mean mix together until

creamy in texture!) with Splenda and cocoa powder. You probably need about a

four to one ratio of Splenda to cocoa. Not sure how much butter you would want

to use. I'd probably try about 1/3 cup butter, 1 cup Splenda and 1/4 cup

cocoa to start out with. If too crumbly, add more butter. If too bitter, add

more Splenda. If too buttery, add more Splenda AND cocoa. If too " blah " add

more cocoa. Once you get the ratios right, then you can consider adding

flavorings if you want to get fancy -- you can find candy making flavorings

(rum,

caramel, peppermint, etc.) in places like craft stores that sell cake decorating

equipment.

Of course, all of this sort of defeats the main purpose of the

" fix " ... the need for a " quick " chocolate fix while standing in the kitchen,

head

hanging over the counter. LOL!

Chocolate concoction

And....how about adding some pecans...chopped? This is sounding better all

the time. Freeze it..and break it into pieces? My mouth is beginning to

water.

PS: I wonder how this concoction would be if you rolled it into a ball put

it on some wax paper and froze it? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

My chocolate " methadone " junkie fix - 1 tsp of cocoa powder (the kind you

bake with), 7 packages Splenda - mix in little bowl (custard cup) - spray 10 to

15 squirts of " I Can't Believe It's Not Butter " (or if you " do " fat, then a bit

of regular butter) -- stir til crumbly ... either eat directly from bowl with

spoon, or roll into a little ball. Hang head over kitchen counter and snarf

down. Repeat as necessary until sanity returns.
