Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just discovered this site and wish I had done so earlier. I had my surgery, both jaws on Tuesday, July 26. I am glad it is all over with! I would say I am healing very well, but not quick enough for me. The swelling is a bit overwhelming, and judging from what I have been reading from you guys, not too uncommen. I look like an oompa-loompa! I have to laugh to keep from crying sometimes when I look in the mirror. I don't recognize the face looking back at me. I was hoping for instant results and just don't see them. My surgeon told me he got to see the results before the swelling began and I will be totally happy when it's all said and done. At this time, I am not sure I would recommend the surgery to anyone. But that is just the discomfort speaking. I am not in any real pain, just not comfortable. I don't think I could have swollen anymore without my skin popping. My nerves are trying to wake up so there is this constant tingling, itching thing going on in my face. I assume that is good. My family has been wonderful, especially my 15 year old daughter. She is going to be a nurse and is getting plenty of practice at this time. I didn't know how all of this would affect my kids, and I told them it was ok to take the time to stare. They did so without being to obvious. I appreciate that. But I knew they were bound to be curious and I may as well go ahead and give them permission and get it out of the way. It makes it easier that way. I would appreciate any input on what to expect in the coming days. Seems like everything I was told up front has kinda went in the opposite direction. I find myself wanting to clean house instead of sitting around. But I get tired easily. And I am afraid to stoop and bend too much as I get dizzy at times still. I was in surgery for 5 1/2 hours, which could account for some of that. Others may say I am just dizzy to begin with. We will discuss that later. Thank you for the info I have read thus far. It's been interesting. Toni
