Guest guest
I made a big mistake yesterday..I made the goat yogurt and set it to ferment at 10.00 am. 12 hours later at 10.00 pm I asked my father to turn of the oven, wait 10 minutes and then turn it on again. (If not the oven will turn of by it self, its a "safty" thing..)Next morning he called me (I was at my mothes house this night) and said I'm so sorry but I did forgot to turn the oven on again! I didn't know what to think or do.. I was a bit angry but he has so many things going on that I just coludn't get angry at him.. I asked him to measue the temperatur and it was 84,5F. This was at 8.15 am, (8hours and 15 minutes after the oven got turned off). I told him to turn on the oven again, so he did. The next evening he put the yogurt in the frigde. So this happened:The yogurt was cooled down to 77 and I added starterI pour the yogurt over in sterilized glass yars (have been in the oven at 200F so they are warm).I put the 4 glass yars (1q each) in the oven at 104F. After 12 hours the oven was turned of.8,15 hours later the temp was 84,5F. I turned the oven back to 104F.The yogurt stayed in the oven 14,5 more hours. Is this goat yogurt safe to eat? Why does it need to ferment 24 hours??Karianne SCD 1 yearASD

Is this goat yogurt safe to eat? yeah. it's 34 hours. but if you are worried, just trial a small bit first and see how you do. Or you could use it in cooking. Why does it need to ferment 24 hours??To be sure all the lactose is eaten.Mara
