Guest guest
It's ok to be terrified, but not necessary! I had upper only, 2-piece Lefort on July 20th. It went very well and I am recovering great! I had an open bite and a cross bite. During surgery my upper jaw was brought up 5 mm in the back (front stayed the same) and was split between my two front teeth and expanded 1.2 cm between my back molars. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have. Here are my pictures and here is my blog (i'm still updating both so my surgery day story is not on my blog but it is on my picture site). Visit them and look around. http://www.coriandron.com/cori/surgery/surgery.html http://corisoralfun.blogspot.com/ What are you having done? Will you be wired/banded shut? Will you have a splint? cori w upper/2-piece Lefort 7/20 > I'm having upper jaw surgery on Aug. 30, 2005 and am terrified! Guest guest
Hi, I had upper jaw surgery and nose/cheek bone surgery May 6th. I am 14 weeks post op. I also had a bone graft taken from my hip to fill in the gaps in the jaw. I found it easier to eat/drink things that were really watery. One of the things my surgeon said to me that worked for me was to eat little and often. dianniam wrote: I'm having upper jaw surgery on Aug. 30, 2005 and am terrified! Guest guest
Upper only for me too. Happening August 24th. Supposedly they are doing a 3 piece section of my upper jaw. They are still reviewing the models and will be doing the surgery on the models Monday to see what is required. They are moving my front teeth up 6mm and the back 4mm I believe. This should correct my lip imcompetance, and my open bite. Getting pretty nervous though. I'll do a webpage for it soon. Marcus > I'm having upper jaw surgery on Aug. 30, 2005 and am terrified! Guest guest
Our cases sound very, very similar. I think they are still working on the models for me too. I'll look for your web page. I won't be able to do anything like that. I'll be doing at least the first week of recovery at my mother's house where there's no computer. I hope to be back at my apartment and back on-line the second week of recovery. Thanks for the note. Diann not_too_shabby_z89 <no_reply > wrote: Upper only for me too. Happening August 24th. Guest guest
I had upper jaw only on Wednesday (17th). It was a leforte 1 maxillay osteotomy w/ differential impaction in the back. So they only removed a few mm's of bone from the upper back and moved the upper jaw slightly forward. I stayed in the hospital one night. I came back yesterday afternoon and I'm doing better every hour that goes by. My nose has been pretty stuffed up (ayr nose spray, flonase which reduces inflammation have both helped). Hydrogen Peroxide diluted with a bit of luke warm water works well in cleaning. My swelling has not been signifant. I've been pretty good with the ice. The Ambien has helped at night and I haven't taken the Vicodin yet but plan to today. Swallowing the horse pill sized antibitic is time consuming but that's ok, because I have no where to go. Let me know if anyone has any other specifici questions. I'm in the midst of the first week of recovery. > > I'm having upper jaw surgery on Aug. 30, 2005 and am terrified! > Has > > anyone out there had only their upper jaw worked on that can tell > me > > something, anything?
