Guest guest
Sorry you are having doubts about your surgeons so close to surgery. You may have trouble getting in to see another surgeon in a short period of time, though. Have you talked with your ortho? He/she may have something to say about this. Could you ask the surgeons if you could skip the cheek implants and lipo, that you're not interested in cosmetic improvements, just functional change. Ask them if you could have these procedures at a later date. Yes, they'd probably be considered cosmetic since they're not part of your initial orthognathic surgery. $5k US is a LOT of money - how much would it cost at a later date? Hope you get some answers you are satisfied with. Thell your surgeons that you don't understand what the changes will be without these procedures, or with them. Be frank with them about how confused you are. A patient of my surgeon was, apparently, given cheek implants without her consent (although once you sign that consent form, you've agreed, unless you state otherwise, I think), and she was very unhappy about it. I don't know the patient and only heard it from a third party. But it makes me question cheek implants if they are not necessary. Guest guest
If it's possible, keep talking with surgeons until you find one with whom you're comfortable and can communicate. Ask if there are any photos, or computerized studies, that will give you a view of the sort of things they're talking about, too. And be sure to ask whether any of this will affect retention of the changes they made, or prevent future pain.
