Guest guest
H, I'm actually looking into the adult school classes and can't decide if I want to take knitting or sewing. Of course I'm looking at the time of the class because of the bedtime routine around here but I'm sure hubby can do most of it without me. The kids probably won't want to go to bed without me home though. B and Kelli advocate22003 wrote: LOL - I'll have to call and tell you that one! LOL I'm at the library right now - using their FREE wireless connection. Next, I'm going to work on putting a household routine/schedule down so that I can follow the advice I just gave and start " scheduling " some more time for myself. Although I do get it every Saturday - I don't just need time to myself - I've been wanting to start a bridge club or sewing club with some of my new " southern " friends and I need to decide when that will be - but, of course, we have not had a routine or schedule since October (Ian as you know has been admitted to the hospital 5 times in the last 4 1/2 months) and now that I think things will hopefully quiet down some - I'm ready to start socializing again!!! I can't just drink wine, eat cheese puffs and watch desperate housewives with my husband - it's just not the same!! Guest guest
Dianne, The funny thing is, is that my mom can knit and sew, but not a good teacher whatsoever. Maybe I will try to have her teach me how to knit. I tried to have her " teach " me how to sew and she had no patience when I was trying to understand the pattern and terms. I always admired my mom for making our customes and knitting great sweaters. I think I'll go for knitting now and see if she can teach me. Heck my 9 and 10 year old nieces learned I think from her so it's worth a shot. I'm sure you had time for knitting while being at H's house during Ian's surgery. I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks B and Kelli Dianne Lewandowski wrote: > I'm actually looking into the adult school classes and can't decide if I want to take knitting or sewing. The kids probably won't want to go to bed without me home though. Knitting is something you can easily " pick up " . It's simple to learn, although it does take awhile to get comfortable and knit a consistent guage (so many stitches and rows to the inch). But you can always knit while you rub footsies with your hubby in the evening. Or, while you're watching your children play. With sewing you must concentrate really hard and it's a lonely hobby. You're usually in a room all to yourself. If your kids take naps and go to bed early, and you don't mind being away from hubby, then I'd take up sewing. Guest guest
Yes I am a knitter as well and Dianne is right. Really once someone shows you how to cast on and do a pearl and a knit stitch, it's easier to go with the manuals. I use to love to knit, I have a project that has been on the go for 5 years now LOL It's a gorgeous long coat style sweater and I have just about completed the front part but I got stupid and decided to do my own pattern of knits and pearls and now that I am up at the top?? I hate it, so I really need to just unravel the whole thing and start again, but I don't have the heart after months of knitting the thing, so I packed it away!! LOL Deb Re: chat Jodi Z.....at it again! ;o) > > > I'm actually looking into the adult school classes and can't > decide if I want to take knitting or sewing.
