Guest guest
I had open RNY a year and a half ago. We tend to suppress memories of pain, so I'm not sure how accurate my answer will be, but I think I felt pretty good after a couple of weeks. It would ache more as the day went on, but pretty much a diffuse, dull ache. It took me about 3 weeks to be able to comfortably lie flat, I had to sleep in a chair. I didn't finish the bottle of liquid percocet that was prescribed, was able to just use tylenol after about the first week or so. Here's one guess about what might be going on with you. I have *no* idea how valid this might be, but it seems logical. When we have the initial surgery we immediately start losing a lot of weight, so I'll bet there's quickly less tension on the muscles and other tissues, especially once the edema subsides. However, if you have surgery at a stable weight you wouldn't have the advantage of everything getting looser. Does this make any sense? Guest guest
Dr Oh is an expert. I bring him " broken people " pretty often. He examines them, then he fixes them. We are in WA state. As to being underweight, since you are still in the honeymoon stage, you're not done. When I was as far out as you, I was way underweight, too. But I just kept doing what I was supposed to do and the wt stabilized. The last thing I would do is eat/drink candy (Ensure) just to get empty calories on board. The craving cycle you set up may mean you cannot control the upswing. You might want to try real protein to level things out. At least the calories are not empty. Not many STAY too thin for very long. And the people I've known who have tried to gain often end up parking higher than they want to be. Men seem to be ok for a lil while, but the women just keep on going back up. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
