writing a book on baratric weight loss stories

Hello friends:

I was impressed by the Oprah show yesterday and it kicked me in the fanny to

begin again on a book of stories of those people who have had weight loss

surgery. I started gathering stories about a year ago but they were all so

happy and optimistic that I decided that there wasn't enough contrast to them to

justify an entire book. Now, I read today's honest postings and heard those on

Oprah yesterday and realized that there are as many stories as there are people.

Would you be interested in sharing your story and pictures for the book? It is

tentatively called " Suddenly Slender " and will include 75 stories which will be

picked from 100 submissions. Every one who submits a story will get a copy of

the finished book and if your story is selected, you will receive two copies and

the right to buy the book wholesale.

I am looking for stories of 350-600 words or a little more (don't worry about

spelling, punctuation, etc. I have an editor who will do all that for us.)

Think of the stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul. Strong beginning with a hook

about your story, middle and meat of the story and end which tells us what you

learned or teaches us a moral or concept. You do not need to be a writer, even

though I think we have incredible writers on this list serve. Just tell me your

story.

If this interests you but you are uneasy writing the story, email me and I will

phone you and do an interview over the phone.

Because this is a moderated list, no one is allowed to post until

they've first sent an introductory note, specifically stating their

date of surgery.

This bothers me.

I am a two year graduate of wls. Please check out my website for credentials and

testimonials. I am usually too busy working to post very often. If you aren't

interested, please don't submit. I am not trying to sell you or any one else

anything, only compiling a book of personal stories of other weight loss

patients. The thesis of the book is " inspiring stories of courageous men and

women who have made the difficult decision to have gastric bypass surgery and

how it has affected their lives. "

Who is this person? Since this board is for people at least a year out from

surgery, did anyone else notice she did not qualify herself? This bothers me.
