Guest guest
We have twelve inches of snow today, and still snowing! More than I've seen in my eight years here. It's just plain nasty out there this evening which reminded me of something I've been meaning to post here. I know I'm not the only one who is made even more breathless by the cold air. It's absolutely impossible for me to inhale freely when the weather is cold and if it's cold and windy forget it. I'm just a mess. Three years ago one of our former members gave me a solution that has worked really well for me. The "I can breathe" cold weather mask. They are poly fleece lined with silk. They fit snugly around my nose and mouth, don't fog my glasses and because the silk wicks moisture away they don't get soggy the way a scarf wrapped around my mouth and nose will. They do cost $30 which is not inexpensive but I've had mine for 3 years and it looks like new. Here is the link: http://icanbreathe. com/store/ cwmadult. html I hope this helps someone....these things are really terrific! Guest guest
Beth This is really early for most of NC to get such snowfalls. I just saw Greensboro is forecast to get 8-12 inches tonight. > > Good evening everyone from cold, snowy, sleety North Carolina! Guest guest
Beth. I know what you mean about cold air making it hard to breath. I have worked outside in the construction industry for 40 yrs.Even before I got IPF I found cold weather bothered me. I used to wear a woolen balaclava mask. It always iced up around mouth and nose. I put kleenex in front of my mouth. It didnt ice up but sure got soggy. Used up a lot of kleenex. Worse was when I worked in the oilsands in Alberta. Minus 10 and 8 ins. snow in first week Sept. Then it got colder and snow , snow, snow. Those were the good old days!!!! Merf 62 IPF 05 > > Good evening everyone from cold, snowy, sleety North Carolina! Guest guest
We're forecast to get 3-6 inches here in Durham. South and east of here into Wake County and further south are getting mostly rain. I just came in from walking the dog and it's cold windy and snowing like crazy! The young families in the neighborhood are all out making snowmen and having snowball fights. I couldn't get back inside fast enough! Guest guest
Beth thank you very much for the info. I love the snow, but it gets so darn cold here it gets pretty depressing when you can't go out. Have already missed 3 days of work this month due to the temperatures dipping to -20 -29 below 0 windchill. Thats when that cold really takes your breath away. I am going to order one of those fashionable masks today LOLTo: Breathe-Support Sent: Fri, December 18, 2009 5:33:27 PMSubject: Brrrrr Good evening everyone from cold, snowy, sleety North Carolina!
