Guest guest
HI. Autumn had croup back in march or april, she caught it from my 3 yr old son. She was miserable as was he. Horrible coughing that kept them up at night (and me!). WE did the cold mist humidifier and the doc also said that taking them outside in the cold air would ease the cough and shrink the something.....I am at a loss for words exactly what it would shrink, but it is supposed to help! Autumn threw up a lot from coughing so hard and would have some problems breathing from the cough being so severe, but she made it through! Good luck! I hope Ian doesn't catch it and your 4 yr old feels better! > > I think my 4 yr old may have croup. His cough sounds similarly to the > seal symptom that croup is known for. Guest guest
hey h!! christopher has gotten the croup every year since he was born and sometimes twice a winter. as a matter of fact he is starting with a cough now that i am giving him med. for. there really isnt much they do for it. unlesss their breathing gets really constricted, then they will give a nebulizer treatment. he only got that as an infant. usually i just give him cough med, put vicks on him at night, humidifier. they tell you to take them for a ride with the window cracked open as well or put them in the bathroom with the hot steam from the shower. it usually lasts about a week that the bark is bad, mostly at night. prop the head part of the bed up some or use and extra pillow. hope he is better soon!! and i hope ian doesnt get it as well. i dont believe it is contagious though but i am not sure. Guest guest
- thanks. slept on me - sitting up in his bed last night. Then he was up at 4 am - 5am - coughing so bad that he decided he was hungry. We then slept sitting up on the couch until about 7:30 am. I really hope Ian doesn't get this. Thanks for the info. did well at school today and only coughed once. Let's hope this doesn't last long. - H -- In RSS-Support , " anderkat3 " <anderkat3@y...> wrote: > > HI. Guest guest
Jodie - thank you so much. You have totally sparked my memory. Well, at night was showing signs of breathing difficulties - but, only during coughing and then he was fine. I remember him having croup once before - but, it was so long ago (I think he was 18 mths) and he had weezing and we had a nebulizer, etc. If he has problems again tonight - I will probably have to call the doc for a prescription for another one. The boys put vaseline all over their current nebulizers and breathing masks and I can't get it off!! Thanks again for the info. - H > > > > I think my 4 yr old may have croup. Guest guest
Jodie - thanks for asking. Oh - I hope doesn't get it!!! I did the vick's rub last night (which he was okay with - I was very surprised - he's so sensitive), and of course the cold air mist. He's still coughing this morning. We'll see. He has a Christmas program at school tomorrow night - and I really want him to make it. I sure hope makes it to the birthday party! Thanks again for asking. - H > > hey h!! > how is alexandar feeling today? better i hope. christopher has now > started with a pretty good cough, i am trying like hell to stop it from > becoming the croup. i gave him so robitusin, vicks rub and humidifier > is on in his room. he has been getting nose bleeds too!! hopefully he > will feel ok for his birthday party tomorrow!!! > > jodie c >
Guest guest
Jodi - thanks for the info. I'm keeping a close eye on Xander. He's sounding a " little " worse today. I'm hoping this will be his worst day and then be better by tomorrow. I will watch him closely though. Thank you so much for the cough syrup info. I have some with codeine in it - I need to check with the doc about it. I think it's better for him to " cough " it out myself. He didn't sleep the best last night - but, he ran in my room this morning to tell me that he " stayed in his bed all night except when he went to get his drink on his dresser and then he went back in and back out and back in " . (He's so cute). He didn't need me though - so, I know he had a pretty-good night. We have the monitor and I could hear him - but, it wasn't too bad. Thanks again. <grin> - H > > Max used to get croup all the time. It was so bad that we had to > get a nebulizer for him to keep his bronchial tubes open.
