Guest guest
Dear Goergia, Thanks for your reply. I live in Townsville , North Queensland. I have been in touch with Miriam. She is so busy with the work she does for the Australian Lung Foundation that I feel that she is not the answer to a friendship. I hardly qualify for your group if it is limited by geography! How long have you had P.F.? I see you have renauds phenominum too. I was diagnosed with that in 1981 I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and its the source of my P.F. I am thankful for my laptop and the internet.I have pastors I pray for in many countries. That keeps me busy. I don't dwell on sickness of which I have had plenty starting with arthritis at aged nine. Nowadays my spine has the arthritis and I wear Norspan Patches and take a heavy dosed regime of Gabapentin. This is because discs in my neck protrude into my spinal fluid so hard they are flattening the back of my spinal cord.I have been going to a pain clinic since last June and it has made me pain free at rest. It is the first time since my teens that I have been without pain. It gives me pain to do a lot of things so I top up with Digesic if its too bad. I hope to keep in touch with you. Thankfully.....Anne.
Guest guest
Anne I was in townsville for only one night, about 16 hrs. in 1969. We stayed up all night, Had a great dinner, instead of ship food, went to a few bars, a after hours club, and then a quick breakfast before the ship sailed. I was working for Federal Elect. Corp. on the Apollo tracking ship USUS Redstone. We docked to off load data after the Apollo 11 crew returned to earth. Perhaps you or some of your family/friends might remember seeing a large white ship with radar antennas in port? would have been late July '69. Guest guest
Hi again Anne, Don't worry about mere geography as a measure of whether you 'qualify' to be a member of this group...they've been so welcoming of everyone from everywhere..that's the great thing about Cyberspace! I mean I've never been to Townsville & probably never will....I bet Lismore, NSW is not exactly a priority on Your 'Must Visit' List either. Would yo believe it if I told you i managed to get a fair number of these sane folk to come ovver her one New year for a big party aboird a Boat on Sydney Harbour...we had such fun...ALL in cyberspace using our imaginations..I've been to a Party on a Mountain on the North East Coast of the States...I even stayed on a few days camping out just to enjoy the gorgeous views (all helped by Google Earth) I LOVE how Cyberspace shrinks the World & enables us to share our Life's experience. So far I haven't been kicked off for being too outrageous & I've loved being part of this great big Air Family. PF is PF no matter what country we live in! So stick around & become part of the 'Royal House of Puffers' . Cheers, in Oz >> Dear Goergia,> Thanks for your reply. I live in Townsville , North Queensland.> I have been in touch with Miriam. Guest guest
Joyce Yes, it was a very exciting job and experience. Particuly for a young (23-25) single guy. Oooooh, the travel; New york, Burmuda, ville, Miami, Cape Kennedy, Puerto Rico, Antiqua, San Francisco, the Panama Cannel (3 times), Hawaii, and Australia, over night, Townsville. Made so many friends, co-workers and others in differant cities. No, the crew or other astronauts never made it to our ship, but, I did meet one in a bar, I can't remember his name, while at the cape, he was scheduled for a tour of the USNS Redstone, but, never made it. There were 3 sister ships, the USNS Vanguard, north Atlantic, launch/orbit insertion, Mercury, north Pacific re-entry and Redstone, luner insertion, south Pacific. Radar and computer links for the Apollo missions. So many memories, friends, travel, scuba diving, growing a beard! Have many photos I'd like to share, if I can ever figure out how to use the scanner and post to emails. Guest guest
Sher Well, its like if someone called you cantankerous. I wouldn't run and say no. I'd say she can be but in a great way of caring too. The kind of cantankerous friend everyone needs. Of course you've been behaving mostly so the newbies would never know. It's amazing to think how long I've been here now and how well I know so many of you. I think of those like you and and Peggy and Joyce and and Beth and Leanne as such long time friends...and so many more the same way. It also reminds me of another good thing, PF has brought to me....so many of you as friends. People I never would have met otherwise. I came across the envelope last night of the tea you sent. > > > > > > Dear Goergia, > > > Thanks for your reply. I live in Townsville , North Queensland. > > > I have been in touch with Miriam.
