Guest guest
Hi all, I am 3 weeks pot op. I have the most amazing ear and throat infection. The weather down under is a joke and got this flu that is killing me. I am back on antibiotics and find it hard to breathe. The swelling and numbness has gotten worse, probably to do with my sinuses, but the doctor is happy how everything else its going. My bite is perfect and even though I hate this bands as they keep breaking and I am find it hard to replace them, I will have to have them on for another 2 weeks. I have a molar which feels like its about to fall out. I get a lot of movement and its really sore. Has any one has had this problem. The doctor says its normal. I had some xrays taken, " I had posted new photos and xrays today " , and its amazing I have no overbite. Went back to work this week, and it was good to see peoples reactions, they all think I look younger, so that is a plus. It was good to get back some normality, but I got very tired in the afternoon. Lucky I only work two days a week and the rest I work from home. Its great to hear so many people doing so well. Keep it all up. Thinking of you all Hugs and kisses,
Guest guest
Hi , too bad about the ear infection - that's all you needed at this point. But it's good to hear you're back at work - it is nice to try to get back some routine, isn't it? I have only started working from home, but that's enough to get my mind off other things for a bit. I also think you look younger, you have a very pretty face. My sister had this done and her appearance changed quite a bit, but now....it's like she's always looked this way. She has no regrets and has probably saved herself from alot of jaw problems by doing so. I hope I will feel the same, Take care, Pam > > Hi all, > > I am 3 weeks pot op. Guest guest
Hi Pam, I am sure you will be very happy with the results. How is your numbness going? I seem to be getting use to it by the end of the day, but first thing in the morning I am more swollen than at night time. Its amazing the changes you go through in 3 weeks? How are the kids going? are you still getting help around the house? How is your eating going? I had chicken and chips last night, cut in very little pieces so I only had to put them in my mouth and swollow, and it was heaven, I have not lost any more weight, but I think thats why I have gotten the flu because I have not been able to eat properly and all my defences have gone out the window. I always tend to get very sick if I get too thin.' Keep well > > > > Hi all, > > > > I am 3 weeks pot op. I have the most amazing ear and throat > > infection. Guest guest
Hi , I still haven't had the go ahead for chewing. Do you still have a splint in your mouth? I don't really want to chew until mine is out, which won't be for another week and a half. I couldn't imagine how messy it would get chewing with it in my mouth. My numbness....well, you know, maybe you're in the same boat. Patience, right? I have sensation in my right lower lip and right lower chin, but nothing in the left. My upper face too, and around my nose is still numb. I'm still swollen - it seems to be taking it's time to go down. I still hurt a fair bit - the inside of my cheeks hurt where my incisions are, I don't know if I'm stretching them or if they are supposed to still hurt...or what. I'll ask the Dr. next week. My upper lip keeps snagging on my elastics and surgical wires. It makes me not want to move my mouth, or smile. This is my major grief right now. Next week is my last week for help, my Mom will come for 2 days - I think I've been really spoiled, but I'm taking advantage of it while I've got it. The kids are great - helping to keep my spirits up! It sounds great to be able to eat real food - it will be soon for me too. I wonder what to eat first - steak? ha ha! probably scrambled eggs - but it will be great to eat them without blending them first! I really miss my buttered toast before bed, or cheerios & milk - now I get to have Boost. Take care, I hope you get over your flu bug soon. Pam > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I am 3 weeks pot op. Guest guest
Hi Pam, I never had a splint. The doctor made one up and I was under the underdtanding that I would have one after the operation, but when I woke up I never had one and when I asked the doctor He told me I did not need one, so my teeth touch together. I was also eating scrambled eggs from day one, and the docotr keeps telling me to eat soft food like pasta and chiken and mash vegies etc. Nothing hard for now. I am the same as you when it comes tohavinf sensation on my right side but not on my left, also the nose is very numb too. The swelling I have been doing what keith posted and I have found a huge difference today, I am going to keep goig for 5 days. My sides are also not hurting, but I can feel were the incisions were. I have not taken any medication today, as I have been taking quite a few of late to keep my temp down, the antibiotics have now kicked in and I am feeling a lot better. My 3 year old ( Dashiel) is now back to sleeping through the night in his room, so no more running up and down the stairs all night putting him back to sleep, thats how I got the cold in the first place. Kids go back to school on Monday, so life should go back to pretty much normal from here on. I don't get my braces adjusted until the end of the month and the orthodontist is very happy with my progress and is hoping that I can have my braces off by January or february all going to plan. I am so excited!!!!!!! Keep well:-) > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I am 3 weeks pot op. I have the most amazing ear and throat > > > > infection. Guest guest
Hi , I am sorry about the flu and the infections! What an awful time to have both! But it sounds like your surgeon has things well in hand and in control. That is good news. Very nice to hear that you look younger too! I am sure that feels pretty good! And I am glad you can work for home the majority of your work week. That should be a lot easier for you. Keep us posted as you progress too. Hang in there! Guest guest
Great news about the braces! Ahhh....a light at the end of the tunnel. Won't it be nice to have all this behind you! I'm making chicken curry tonight - it blends up well. I'm also making a thanksgiving dinner tomorrow - not sure how well that will blend, but I'll try. Maybe I can eat some pumpkin pie without blending it - it'll be a bugger to clean my mouth out though. Oh well, it'll be worth it. (I love the name Dashiel, by the way) Pam > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > > I am 3 weeks pot op. I have the most amazing ear and throat > > > > > infection. Guest guest
Hi , it didn't disclose it...here's mine - pgillett at telus dot net - replace the 'at' and the 'dot'. It would be nice to stay in touch via email. Our dinner went well yesterday, but I can't even eat mushy food with the splint and elastics, so I was a bit disappointed. And pumpkin pie does NOT blend up well - so as soon as my splint is out and I can eat mushy food I'm making another pie! And eating it all myself! I've been trying the heat each hour for the last two days, although my swelling is not gone it has gone down alot. My cheeks still hurt, I have to ask the Dr. tomorrow about that, I hope I don't have an infection. It still hurts to smile, and I am not talking well at all - I had sort of hoped for better after almost 4 weeks. Maybe getting rid of the splint will be my turning point. I hope all is well with you - are you having any luck chewing yet? Pam > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am 3 weeks pot op.
