But , what about this Ranitidine? its for his stomach > I had very bad luck with 150 ranitidine, caused dysbiosis, took SCD diet strict, and probiotics, yogurt, to restore balance in flora. I do not have Crohns or UC, probably an amylase deficiency, do well on SCD diet. Zantac is this med, and there is a 75, or could he take two a day of 75? I just know this made me very sick with no stomach acid, caused overgrowth of bad stuff, couldnt digest food, sick, etc. Can he take Tagamet? Be sure to check with interactions of drugs with Tagamet. Be Well.
Guest guest
I think it all depends on the individual. There are many people who discover they need to increase their stomach acid levels, and others who do better reducing the amount of stomach acid. Some need to increase or decrease their stomach acid levels until their body heals, others need to do either over the long-term. I think it depends on the condition being dealt with. And, of course, whether the individual even tolerates the medication. Physicians routinely suggest one or more of the possible medications that are appropriate for the individual in the hopes that one or more of them will help. Sometimes the recommendations work, sometimes they don’t. All depends. There is never just one way to do anything, including healing. Kim M. It helped a lot and then once my UC started getting better and I was taking less pills I was able to ween off it slowly (b/c, like many other drugs your body can start to rely on it). > Stacey > > >> >> Ranitidine is marketed under the name Zantac. It is used for treating GERD, >> ulcers and other conditions where there is too much stomach acid being >> formed. Also used in the treatment of hives, which I didn't know! Didn't we recently have a conversation where people were saying that for the most part with digestive diseases, it is not too much stomach acid being formed but too little? Does UC actually do the opposite, or is this a case of conventional wisdom, or *every case is unique*? Mara
