This is good news for the thousands of childhood cancer survivors who often must undergo treatment that can drastically reduce the size of their hearts. " This study, while not focused on kids with growth problems, bolsters recent studies (including Dr.CHernausek's talk at Convention this year) that gHT is helpful, not just for linear bone growth, but also for musculature, including cardiac physiology. Of course, keep in mind that we do not have data (that I know of) suggesting that RSS/SGA kids have the types of thin heart walls that cancer patients have. But, certainly, as Dr. C. suggested: increasing muscle mass to fat ratio is better for overall health of the RSS/SGA child...
