Surgery Tomorrow!

I can't believe it's finally here. I'm really pretty calm, but am

having a hard time focusing on what I need to do at home to get my

family in shape for me to be out of commission for a week, work at a

point where I can be gone for a couple weeks or so and pack

everything I might need. I find I'll work on one task, get part way

through and then think of something else I need to do - leave the

first task to work on the second task and then something else pops

into my little brain! I think I'm running in circles!

My mom and I are heading to Seattle around 1:00 p.m. today. I'm

taking her to a nice dinner for my last meal. I'm thinking seafood

sounds good!

I got my teeth cleaned Monday and went for my final OD visit

yesterday. He tried to bend in the one surgical wire that is causing

me the most trouble and ended up breaking it off (yippee). So, he

made a couple of homemade wire loops on my lower bottom jaw. I'm

doing much better and haven't had to pack wax in my lower gums for

24 hours! I should of gone in sooner!

My OD agreed with my OS that my teeth are in great position and that

I should only have to wear my braces for a couple of months after

surgery. I'll be double-banded for two weeks and then single banded

for one week. Then, the bands come off and I begin doing exercises.

They took pictures at my OD appointment yesterday, which I have

posted under the Diane folder. My mom is taking her digital camera,

so I'll try to post update pictures when I get home.

If all goes well, I'll be home Friday evening or sometime Saturday.

I'm not looking forward to the 5 hour drive home, but we'll take

rest breaks when we need them. My car has seat warmers and I bought

a vibrating neck pillow. Plus I'm taking a nice quilt my mom made

me. I think I'm set.

Well, here I go. Thank you everyone for all of your advice and

support throughout this process. I'm very fortunate to have found

this group.

To my November surgery buddies who have gone before me, I hope you

continue to heal well; to those behind me, good luck! I'll be

thinking of you.

Best Regards,

Diane, Oregon

Diane (Oregon) - Best of everything to you tomorrow. I'm sure your

surgery will go smoothly and soon you will be on the other side. By

now you are probably having your last meal with your Mom before your

big day, and I hope you are enjoying the seafood. Just relax;

everything will be just fine - you are so ready and very well

prepared for this. Take care and post just as soon as you feel up to

it. You will be in my thoughts on Thursday. ~~~ Diane (Idaho)
