Hi .I am 22 years old and am considering to undergo a Orthognathic

surgury. I was wondering if all patiants before the surgury need to

wear braces? also how long after the procedure are you unable to speak?

I am a college student and was hoping to do the surgury during the

summer break - about 2.5 months. is that enough time to recupurate and

be able to speak again so this will not bother my studies?

do u need to wear braces after the surgury, or can you have invisiline

insted? what are the prices like?

any advice will be greatly appreciated!

:) Ricki.

Hi Ricki,

As far as I know all patients wear braces before surgery. I didn't try to

speak for about 6 days, but by day 7 my surgeon said that I had to start talking

soon. I did start to talk but was very hard to understand so I mainly just said

yes or no. I should think that 2.5 months is enough time.
