Guest guest
June, are you taking vit. D3? I, too, HAD osteopenia due to an inability to use dairy as well as diarrhea related to all calcium supplements (found one and an enzyme that now work for me). 2000 IUs a day and a little exercise mad my density went up enough in one year to take me into the normal range. My 83 yr. old mom (who DOES dairy but, I suspect, shouldn't!!) taking 4000 IUs/day in that year went from osteoporosis to osteopenia w/ NO weight-bearing exercise!! Artful Carol P.S. - And the thyroid/bone doc who told me 5 yrs. ago that I was wrong thinking that there are healthier ways to build bone, that the only way to do it was meds like Boniva and the like - which I didn't want to take - is having to ADVERTISE for patients! 'Course, her terrible " bedside manner " could have something to do w/ it, too... but I get a charge every time I hear her advertisement on radio or t.v. > > Hi all, > > I was always 130 pounds my whole life at 5'8 " . Now I weigh 120. I am more worried about the osteopenia I have in my lumbar spine, more so than the weight. I would like to be at least 125, then I wouldn't look so gaunt. > > Thanks, > June
