Guest guest
Carol, I'd love to read this article. Makes me quiver to be honest- we like need an SCD " Stargate " Sarcophagus to rejuvenate us.. wouldn't that be cool? It is such a balancing act- trying to kill these buggers and yet restoring the good guys.. I'm waiting for a complete overhaul paradigm shift to approach this issue.. Guest guest
My opinion, based on my own experiences and the research I’ve done on the subject of gut ecology over the past seven years, is that antibiotics AND/OR antifungals can do a lot of damage to our gut ecology. They both have critical and valuable roles to play – but it is a delicate balancing act, and too much of one or the other can cause damage, some long-lasting or permanent. Antifungals can do just as much damage to our gut ecology as antibiotics. Sometimes it is best to just focus on eating healthy foods, depending on what we are dealing with, of course. Sometimes we need an antibiotic or an antifungal, but we better help our delicate gut microorganism balances by taking small amounts, and for a short period only, and waiting months or years before using one or the other again. And all of this varies with the individual, so there isn’t one rule that fits everyone. Which makes it difficult and frustrating and challenging. Just my thoughts on the subject [grin]. Intestinal microbiology is really very fascinating -- and very complex. Kim M. This study demonstrated that it might only take 2 rounds to PERMANENTLY kill some species and the comment by researchers is that we don't know we can only guess at this point what positive functions the various flora perform. EVERYBODY should read that article... wherever it is... ? MY point is that we should also be suspect of the antifungals we take. Not that I know o a alternative for folks like me but... I shudder to think of the unimagined effects... :D ??? Artful Carol
