Guest guest
I've been referred to an OS for Leforte 1, but I've been to scared to go. How is it going for you? Was it better/worse (in terms of pain) than you thought it would be? I'm wondering how/if they actually avoid all the teeth roots, important nerves, nasal passages etc. It just sounds soooo risky and painful. I;m curious as to why you had it done and how you decided that it was worth the risks. Any insight you could provide would be great! Will be posting pre/post pictures? --- lanista20 wrote: > I hope all the recoveries are going well. I'm just > over 3 weeks post- > op (Leforte 1 piece). Guest guest
Cruzadie, I had Le Fort one and two, done May 2005 along with a lot of other stuff. My surgeon was able to avoid the teeth roots. I also had surgery on my nose so I can't comment on the nasal passage question. It seems that he did damage a nerve on the left side under my eye (he had to cut under each eye to do my nose, which is how he damaged it). I was born with a cleft lip and palate and as a result of the cleft my jaw stopped growing which was one reason for the surgery. I was also having some pain and discomfort chewing and talking. And I couldn't eat some things as my bite was so messed up. My maxillofacial surgeon and his team went through all the options I had and went through the risks and complications of the surgery. In the end I had two options and after talking things through with the surgeon and my mum we decided that Le Fort one and two would be the best option for me and it would also achieve what I want. --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Watch the Hurricane Katrina Shelter From The Storm concert
Guest guest
It's been going very well for me. I'm healing quickly and I've been cleared to start eating softer foods. I really had no pain per se, just discomfort. The worst part was the first three days. After that things became easier. I started working on a limited basis the next week. I've been working out in one form or another since the second week (yoga the first week). There is always risk in surgery. However, if you do the research and pick a surgeon that has a good record then the success rate is extremely high. I made a choice to have the surgery done. It was 100% functional although I could have survived the same w/o having had it. I did not have an open bite before orthodontics. When I had braces put on a year and half ago my ortho didn't emphasize the fact that when my teeth straightened out completely, an open bite would be exacerbated. So I was ready to get the braces off and realized that the open bit was now about 4 mm in the front. I had paid for the braces in order to gain a `perfect' bite. I was willing to go through surgery to accomplish that goal. I'm very happy I went through with it because now my teeth are straight and my bite is homogeneous. I had a mild class III before, that was taken care of as well. I have couple pictures up under Lanista. I'll post some more soon…my swellings is almost all gone. > > > I hope all the recoveries are going well. I'm just > > over 3 weeks post- > > op (Leforte 1 piece).
