Mimi,

I have stayed at both hotels & the hospital residence. During non-

peak times, the Guest Residences is more expensive than some hotels.

That is because their rate remains constant. You are going at a time

when hotel rates may be higher because you are traveling during a

peak time near the holiday. I think the rate for Guest Residences is

$180/night for their cheapest room. I stayed there over New Year's

Eve the year before last, and it was cheaper for me, because it was a

peak travel time when hotels were over $300/night. I just went a few

weeks ago and I stayed at the Salisbury Hotel, and the rate was $146/

night. I don't know whether you are planning to stay in NY longer

than for just the appointment, but if you are, the Guest Residences

isn't in the best part of town convenient to tourist attractions.

That may also affect your decision. As far as booking a flight home,

I'd allow 2 hours in the waiting room, 2 hours with Dr. H, and an

hour to get to the airport, so that would leave you with a flight

later than 2:30, since you would need to be at the airport an hour

before departure.
