Guest guest
Back to Reading again last night to make my appointment with Dr Harper in the morning. After a nightmare in the parking lot, Dad and I managed to negotiate our way through the long twisting corridors and get to the desk only five minutes late. As soon as we hit the traffic snarl in the car park I had put a call through to the receptionist so that they knew I'd be tardy. [i absolutely hate being late, and I think not calling to warn people is incredibly rude - I advise you all to do this if you find yourself in similar predicaments!] Mr Harper was smiley and gorgeous as ever. I don't think he fancies me - which is probably a good thing, but I put it down to having to use my Mum's make up this morning. She doesn't have any Touche Eclat so I looked a bit tired-eyed. Despite him not being attracted to me in any way, it didn't stop him from filling my mouth with sticky gunk...it was mint flavoured putty cement which he used to take more moulds of my mouth. Mr Harper has a box full of moulds of my teeth from as far back as 1993! You can see the progression of my jaw through the years underlining my need for eventual surgery. Silly disobedient bones! I also had another photo-session. The least flattering of which involved a mirror in my mouth and two " lip pullers " drawing back my upper and lower lips. It's very hard to look attractive when your lips are turned inside out. Maybe I should have pretty things like butterflies tattoed into the insides of them. Anyway, if any of you have that Tool album with the orthodontic graphics, thats how I looked today! I didn't get to see my bone scan as Mr Tomlins, my operating surgeon wasn't around and hadn't received it back. I hope it came out OK!! I don't think I'd like to go through that again. The next stage is a consultation in November using all the info from the investigations, scans, xrays, pictures and moulds and decide on the plan of treatment. Wonder if I'll be in braces before Christmas...

Guest guest
-Mira - Hey, looks like your Orthognathic Journey is about to really start! I'm sure that you will be in braces by Christmas; you will be having your Orthodontic Consult to discuss your treatment plan in November, so they will probably put the spacers in soon after. My Ortho Consult was on June 21st, my brackets were in on July 26th, spacers were put in on Aug. 2nd, and the rest of the hardware (bands, archwires, and ligatures) was installed on Aug. 9th. The only reason that there were weeks in between my consult and bracket installation was that my OD only works in the main office two days per week, and it was a scheduling problem. That will change in November - he moves into his own office here in Boise and will have another office in the town just west of us. I could have had everything put in at one time, but my OD wanted to ease me into the sensation of having the brackets in my mouth before all the rest of the stuff was put on so that I could get used to it all, and also he was concerned about my joint (TMJ) issues. And don't worry about the spacers - you will only have to put up with them for one week. Let us know how your consult goes with your cutie-pie Ortho. Take care. ~~~ Diane (Idaho)-- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , Mira Manga <MiraManga@b...> wrote: > > Back to Reading again last night to make my > appointment with Dr Harper in the morning.
