Guest guest
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. It will definitely help with the retention of water. The problem with it is that it often depletes the potassium level so it is important to keep track of your potassium level. I have been taking something similar since before surgery and it has yet to affect the pouch. Guest guest
Greens? Any carbonate in any of your substances? Anything you're taking for your ulcer resemble Tums? Not that I know anything about them, except that it is an experience I prefer NOT to repeat. Now, interestingly, my endo put me on HALF a 25mg hctz for several months to lower that urine CA level. You don't feel anything at that low dose. But the output rose more. So, he doubled it, to a full 25mg and that's what nearly did me in. I didn't NEED a diuretic in the first place, so even though I was sucking down water in a continuous trickle (and not doing my diet coke much), I still dehydrated to the point of having to pull over and do the dry heave thing, then was too disoriented to find my way home. Water bottle in hand, but not willing to dry heave, so I couldn't drink it. Bad shape. So, please pay attention closely when you do these, ok? And BTW, the excretion level INCREASED with more. So, with his permission, I stopped doing even the half. He kept trying to put me back on the whole one, but no way. I had to crawl into my PCP that day to figure out what was making me SOOOOO sick. I did the pinch test and the skin just didn't come back down at all. Pot. was low, of course and it stays balanced all the time. Did they recommend upping your CA citrate? When I first had the crystals, my uro said that citrate can offset oxalates, to a degree. Oh man, I wish I'd listened back in 1997. I'd have bones today. Don't get me started. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
I take 3 500mg doses of citrate calcium a day. I kind of vary my routine, depending on how pouchie is feeling (I've got a bad ulcer). Mostly 2 citracal Plus Magnesium 3x a day (morning, then at 6ish and then at bedtime) Water I'm really good at. 72 oz a day and then I stop keeping track. I generally get 42 oz of it in before noon. Not many Greens, No carbonate, totally no tums or any of that kind of dead bone calcium stuff. I have been eating rutabaga's and they are on the no no list. And I had been eating some nuts. So no more of that . . . . even peanut butter is on the no no list! Oh and an evil peepcorn peep, sent a huge tin of popcorn to me at work! Lucky for me it was still kind of cold/frozen when it arrived so it went to a co-worker! hehehe peepcorn 0 Joanie 1 Thank you all for your help on these dreadful kidney stones. I worry about taking the diuretic drug and killing my potassium. It seems like such a fine balance. Thanks again, Joanie Kidney stones - interputing results > > About 1.5 months ago I had 2 kidney stones removed . . .delightful experience a > basket up my ureter . . . mmm something I hope not to repeat. > > The Urologist had me do a 24 hour urine collection and mailed me the results. > I'll put a call in to him tomorrow, but can you guys help me interpret what he > is saying????
