Guest guest
Hello everyone, I had surgery on Thursday morning to move my lower jaw forward. I seem to be extremely sick. I threw up a good five times. I hope the swelling goes down and I am able to hold food down. I have already lost five pound which probably is not a good thing. It seems at night I always wake up in pain from trying to open my mouth. I guess it's just habit. Has anyone else had these problems? THANKS! Guest guest
Hi, Sorry you're having problems. Have you told your doctor how you're feeling? Maybe you need some different meds .... Even if you can't keep much down, be sure to drink plenty of liquids. Even just water. Or broth, juice, 7-Up, etc. You need to stay hydrated. Maybe 7-Up and Saltines will help settle your stomach? Hang in there, Luna
Guest guest
I can't believe you're even posting 3 days post-op. I was still sleeping my life away. My swelling was horrible and my OS prescribed steriods because my bottom lip was so swollen and my tongue also. They helped. If you are already on steriods, give it some time. Around Day 5 or 6, all of a sudden the swelling went down a lot. My doctor said the swelling usually peaks around day 2 or 3, so you are at the peak of it. Give it a couple of days more and you'll feel much better. Let us know how it goes. Happy healing. Connie > Hello everyone, I had surgery on Thursday morning to move my lower jaw > forward. Guest guest
One thing I forgot to say earlier, I not only kept trying to open my mouth in the middle of the night, but once I did I would clamp it down so hard and fast it would clank, and wake me up. This happened a few nights in a row until my bite finally closed up into the splint and now it doesn't seem to happen anymore. Before that my mouth was permantly stuck open. Guest guest
I spent last weekend puking my guts up... (I had surgery the previous Wednesday). We called my surgeon and he told us to cut the Vicodin. Once it was out of my system I felt MUCH better, although it took a good 16 hours for it to get out of my system.
