Guest guest
, I'm in Florida, so this will be brief. I just wanted to get back to you about the Peptamen, Jr. It is the formula of choice because of the easy digestibility and high calories. It is used for those kids who have delayed emptying because it is considered to be " predigested. " It is also great for those who are allergic to milk. I don't understand, either, if Autumn is tolerating it well, why you would want to change that. It is so hard to find a formula that our kids can thrive on. Why mess with something she can tolerate? I'm glad the surgery is over and Autumn is doing well. It is normal for her to not want to take food orally for awhile. Just bolus her as often as you need to. Keep on offering the food and eventually, and it could take months, she will come around. I promise. Jodi Z
Guest guest
- You can call MAGIC and ask for a copy of library article #H-127. They will make the copy and mail it to you that same day. (you are still a member of MAGIC right?) That document is written by an Easter Seals nutritionist, approved by Dr. Dumont (peds GI at Loyola Children's Hospital) and Dr. Harbison). It should help you. > > Autumns' gi nurse is now questioning why she is even on peptamen jr and > she wants to find something else for her. Guest guest
Thanks Jodi. Everything has just changed so quickly with Autumn and I am still trying to get used to it! It just went downhill so fast I had nothing to grab on to and now we are slowly climbing up. It is all so new to me and I am so thankful for all your help. I am relieved she is getting calories and hydration through the g-tube although I am still a little thrown off by almost total lack of interest in food going on for 3 weeks or so now. The home care nurse came over today and we got the gi to give a new plan. WE are adding extra bolus feeds at night now for more calories until monday, then a new plan will be set to try to get her back more to food and the extra calories by bolus instead of the other way around. As for the peptamen jr, thanks for the info. I certainly don't want to change it, she tolerates it very well. I honestly don't know what the nurse is thinking. mom to Autumn 21.5 mos RSS, Summer 4 mos SGA, Ocean 3.5 yrs, Skye 7 yrs > > , > > I'm in Florida, so this will be brief.
