Guest guest
Deb, there is an OSSG South Beach group. Generally we don't call it a diet. Some of us don't use that word anymore. It is more of an eating plan....Here's the address: To learn more about the OSSG-SouthBeach group, please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-SouthBeach To start sending messages to members of this group, simply send email to OSSG-SouthBeach If you do not wish to belong to OSSG-SouthBeach, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to OSSG-SouthBeach-unsubscribe Sharon in D.C. Post Op - South Beach Diet Has anyone who has had the RNY gone on the South Beach Diet afterwards? If so, I would like to hear from you (farawaydeb@...). I have regained some weight. My biggest problem is lack of structure, and all-day grazing of really unhealthy foods. I need to make a firm decision as to exactly what I AM going to eat (and when), and what I'm NOT. I need a plan, a program, etc. and from what I understand, avoiding " white carbs " is a good thing. South Beach Diet sounds like a reasonable " lifestyle " for me so I plan on starting it after the holidays. I welcome any thoughts from anyone familiar with the South Beach Diet. Thanks. Guest guest
> Has anyone who has had the RNY gone on the South Beach Diet > afterwards? If so, I would like to hear from you Deb, My whole family follows the South Beach way of eating. (We don't say " diet " either because we are assuming that this is a permanent - and very livable - choice.) It is very compatible with postop eating needs. I do add in protein shakes on top of the low/ " better " carb eating that the Beach calls for. I was able to lose my bounceback weight in about 3 week; NOTHING has worked like that for me since the first 18 months postop. I didn't have a great deal to lose - about 15 pounds - but it all went. I'm 4.5 years postop. My family has done very well also. We really like many of the SB recipes in the book and have also adapted recipes of our own. The first 2 weeks are tough - that is the " detox from sugar " phase which is basically veggies and lean meats. He does allow some beans at that stage though, so being able to have something like chili once in a while really helps. But after those 2 weeks, the rest of the eating plan feels like pure luxury! hugs from the Beach, Ann
