Hi There are two STARband facilities in the Bay Area - Oakland and Palo Alto. We went to Oakland and had a great experience there. I think someone recently went to UCSF for a band but I don't know what the brand was. I think there are also some Hanger facilities that do the band (there are lots if Hanger offices but they don't all provide the band). Here is the information for the STARband facilities:Center for Independent Rehabilitative Services, Inc.Bob Paterson, COAmy , CPO 3260 Ash Street Palo Alto, CA 94306650-462-0102, FAX 650-462-0107Email: amynfoster@...Email: bobco1238@...Trish , CO430 40th Street Oakland, CA 94609510-653-9834Email: tcollins22@...MollyNovato, CANicolas, STARband graduateOn Mar 18, 2011, at 2:06 PM, "" <skwelsh@...> wrote:Thank you. You are right, we are seeing a Neurosurgeon. Right now our appointment is scheduled for 3/28. I appreciate the advise to try and have it looked at more closely now and not wait until the 9 month appt. Thanks for the info. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area, if anyone wants to chime in about the clinics and bands in our area. Thanks again everyone. Hello,Please don't wait until your daughter is 9 months old to look into banding. Studies show that repositioning does not work after a baby is six months old(the skull is too hard at that point.) The time to band your daughter is now. You don't want to miss out on the growth spurts your daughter will undergo until she is about 11-months-old. Are you seeing a neurosurgeon or a neurologist? Not sure if a neurologist is the right specialist for this condition? I thought so too, but our ped, said a neurosurgeon is the specialist who treats plagio. Craniofacial specialists also treat plagio and they tend to be more band-friendly.I would definitely call ahead and make sure the specialist you see does indeed band--even if it is a neurosurgeon. If he/she doesn't band, find a specialist who does. As far as the best band, I posed the same question to our neurosurgeon and he said all the active bands pretty much work the same way and he didn't prefer one over the other. More important is the skill and experience of the orthotist who will design and make adjustments to the band. Do your homework and get recommendations from other parents. If you let everyone on the board know where you are located, there is bound to be someone who can share their experience with you and point you in the right direction.Best of luck!-Amy________________________________From: <skwelsh@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 10:45:30 AMSubject: best band / helmet on the market..?Hi Mommys and Daddys,I'm new here. DD is 6 months and was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly 2 weeks ago. Our pedi said for us to try and get her to sleep on the other side of her head and he would then re-evaulate her at the 9 month appt. I'm a little worried about waiting so long since her flat spot is pretty severe and is pushing her skull out on the other side. So we have an appt with a Neurologist next week. So my question is this: Whats the best band / helmet product on the market right now? Whats your experience with the product you were given? Did you like it? Would have preferred a different product?I would like to be as prepared as possible for next weeks appt. Thank you all.------------------------------------For more plagio info

Thank you.  I believe we may end up at the CIRS in Oakland.   Thanks again. On Sat, Mar 19, 2011 at 11:52 PM, christineashok <christineashok@...> wrote:

We used CIRS in Palo Alto for a starband. They also have an office in Oakland. They are the most well know in the area from my experience.
