Guest guest
Hi Connie, I've been meaning to write you back and after reading your latest post, I wanted to write you back right away! I am really sorry about the rebroken jaw! I can imagine how frustrated and demoralized you feel (at least I would feel that way).... especially when you are this far along and hoping you are finally out of the woods and well on your way. You WILL get through this and the OS is there to help you. It's too bad he was out of town, but I'm glad (if I'm understanding your message correctly) that he will see you on Friday which is pretty soon. And to have another infection... I remember that you wrote previously with really struggling with infections... have they prescribed you more antibiotics for the infections? I never experienced a rebreak, so I can't speak to that specifically. But, it was about two months post op when we discovered the movement of my upper jaw that still hadn't healed solidly.... That was really frustrating and I had all kinds of concerns and doubts about my healing- about having been cleared to chew harder food prematurely (but how would the OS have known??) and going back to OD prematurely and getting bands prematurely and then all of that making it worse creating avoidable problems... That of course then created all kinds of insecurity in myself and even in my doctors... at least this is how I felt. Don't let that happen!! They are there to help you and guide you through this healing " journey " . I hope that the pain subsides in the mean time and that your are able to heal quickly. Don't get too frustrated if they have you back on soft food for a while (I kNOW how difficult it is to go back!) You will get there... you will heal up and be fine. It just can take such a long time. People are surprised when I tell them that I'm still healing after my surgery from 6months ago! Anyway, I am really sorry that you are going through this new setback. I'm glad you have your husband there to be supportive of you. You mentioned in your one post to me that the right side of your jaw has been killing you... I guess we know the source now. It's good to know, at least. I don't know if the flat spot on your molar is due to the splint... It's possible. My mouth certainly didn't know how to fit together either for quite a while which didn't help... Is the swelling of your tongue and inside lip due to the infection? Did you ask the OS about that as well?? I wonder what it might be. Maybe it is just swelling alittle from the rubbing. I understand about avoiding the butt machine!! At one point I worked out at a facility that had several machines that I had to be very careful using if I wanted to avoid beating myself up with them! I'm sure it was strange to be given the wierd looks by the old ladies! At least that provides comic relief! Good luck with everthing and let me know how your appt. Friday goes with the OS!
