Guest guest
Hi everyone,My little 8 month old baby girl just started wearing her helmet 2 weeks ago. The second week, she wore it for 23 hours. Last couple of days, we noticed that there is raw red bruising on her right side (the holding point of the helmet) and it did not go away even after a 12 hours of rest from helmet wearing. The scalp tissue looks raw and red even after one entire day of not wearing the helmet. We have applied vaseline to the spot to help heal the damaged tissue. Does anyone have this problem with the helmet? Is bruising of the scalp common with wearing the helmet? We have a Hanger's helmet. For the time being, I have stopped putting the helmet on baby girl until her spot heals. Any advice and comments would be appreciated. Thank you everyone. Love this support group! Guest guest
We had a similar problem with our son. Our clinician told us that it was heat rash (even though it looked worse than any heat rash I had ever seen). We left it off for an entire weekend and finally put it back on when the redness completely disappeared (we used A & D during the weekend on the red spots since its a bit thicker than vaseline). When we put the helmet back on - we were told to take it off every few hours for 2-3 minutes to wipe down my sons head and the helmet. After a few weeks of this - he was able to wear it all day/night with no irritation. Good luck!!! > > Hi everyone, > My little 8 month old baby girl just started wearing her helmet 2 weeks ago.
