Guest guest
Clare, if venting makes you feel better then vent! that's what we're here for. here's a little insight from my own experience. i wore braces from the time i was 7 to 17 years old and was also told that there would be a 25% chance that my jaw would revert. Guess what? it did and with a vengeance so much so that my TMJ pain got much worse and i ended up with a 8mm open bite. So to my horror at the tender age of 26 I was faced with wearing braces AGAIN in order to get ready for the surgery! and i was grad student at school forced to deal with stupid comments from other students. I think I cried non-stop for 2 days. The good news is that since surgery I have felt so much less conscience about having the braces on. In fact, knowing that the worse part of all of this procedure is over and that soon I will take the braces off for once and for all just makes me feel so much better. With my jaw now in its proper position the braces also feel a lot less in your face. At least that's how I feel. I'm constantly smiling now and that's with a gao in between my two front teeth (which will disappear in 1 month). So my word of advice is not to let fears about having to wear braces post-op be the one deciding factor against going through with it. Look at it this way, whether you do the surgery or not you'll be stuck with the braces for a while longer the only difference being that with the surgery you'll have a guarantee of no relapse whereas without the surgery you won't. Just my 2 cents. Don't give up! Sara > > > Hi all, > > > I was actually supposed to have my surgery august 8th, and it > > keeps getting > > > pushed back.
