Guest guest
You are all invited to stay at my house. We never have snow! Well, 'cept for a couple of years ago but it was a very, very light dusting and didn't stick. We do, however, have horrible, horrible fog. Sometimes go for a month or so at a time without any sunshine at all but no snow. You will have to share couches with dog and cat but you can have your choice of what flavor you prefer. And.....I have plenty of PS100 (but, mostly vanilla- I use more of that than the chocolate but I do have that too. And I keep PB55 MochaCap on hand as well.) I have stick and regular blender and tupperware shaker so we should be set. So come on along to Central California. Alice The Loon RNY 12/28/00 I didn't need to read this right now. Last year was the worst!!!! Don't want to have to go through that again anytime soon. I'm with you , California here we come, da-da-da-da...... Guest guest
The last time I was in Seattle (98) I had a wonderful time. We (I and my foster daughter) went to see my friend Maggie, who lives in Shoreline. (I was going thru my divorce, and she literally " sent " for us to come for Christmas.) The name of the community is The Shores. Her address is literally, " The End of Mulberry Lane. " Bill Gates used to live in the same community. It's a gated community on an old (1908) golf course. I'm not bragging, it was just such a fairytale trip for us. Maggie lives in the old Boeing Mansion, built in 1913. (as in founder of Boeing Aircraft). It has 13 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, more rooms than you can imagine, with a ballroom in back lower floor. Every bedroom has a dressing room, and a bathroom bigger than any room in my house. My bedroom looked out over the bay. The other side of the " house " looked out over the mountains. Breathtaking in either direction. But I loved getting up early and sneaking down to the kitchen, making a cup of coffee, and going back up and sitting on the balcony that looked out on the bay and watching the barges, in the gray, foggy haze of early dawn. It reminded me of a song I learned when I was a little girl, in Girl Scouts, " Out of my window, looking in the night I can see the barges flickering light. Silently flows the river to the sea, and the barges too go silently. Barges, have you treasures in your hold? Do you fight with pirates brave and bold? Barges, I would like to go with you, I would like to sail the ocean blue. " Hmm. My memory isn't so bad. Anyway, on Christmas Eve, it snowed. And it was magic, because everything was so green. And there were HUGE flakes coming down. The three of us got out and danced in the snow. Her husband thought we were nuts. It was gone by the next morning, but we got to go to Christmas Mass in a red Rolls Royce. <VBG> And she took us across that bridge. And all over town. Maggie took us to lunch at the restaurant at the top of the Sky Needle. Very posh. Carson, my foster daughter (16) froze. The tables were all laid out with fine china, every silver eating utensil you can imagine, every piece of crystal. Maggie asked her, " Carson, what's wrong? " Carson stammered, " I don't know which fork to use. " Maggie smiled, quietly leaned over and whispered, " The one that gets the food to your mouth. " Then she took us to the Market and shopping. I've never seen such a happy, lovely young lady in my life, who had been so miserable before. It was truly a magical trip. I can't wait to go back, and see her, and meet my " new " friends there. I'm so sorry I had to cancel my trip last February. I love Seattle! I'll be back. Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... And do it quickly, because they're building a new bridge, and it won't be nearly as scary, and it will have a toll. Apparently Tacoma feels it needs a cover charge to keep out the riff raff. Either that, or they're trying to make sure that those of us who live on the " wrong side " of the water just stay over here! Guest guest
It's not like she doesn't have the room! Wouldn't a party in that grand old ballroom be wonderful? It opens onto a patio with one of those old lion head fountains, and looks down into the hills...Maggie would probably almost go for it. She's not the least pretentious. A former RN, who still does home health visits on a volunteer basis. NO servants except for one cleaning lady who comes in to HELP once a week. It's just her and her husband who was genius enough to move from real estate dabbler, to entrepreneur to magnate with no help from anyone. Maggie rebuilt that house from demolition to historical monument, one room at a time, by herself. I love them dearly. I never saw the cleaning lady the whole time we were there. We made our own beds, and hung up our own clothes. And Mags and I had a grand time messing up the kitchen! Well, 3 kitchens, but who's counting?. But we cleaned up after ourselves. LOL. On Christmas Eve, she had this gadget that made whipped cream with compressed gas...looked like a seltzer sprayer thing. She pumped it up, and it exploded. And we ate dinner with whipped cream on top of both of us. 's " children " thought we were heathens. Carson just laughed, and agitated their children to run thru the parlor and sunroom and piano room and smoking parlor. Maggie laughed, while the kids wrecked havoc. And their parents fumed in their expected inherited importance. It was so much fun. We jumped and laughed and shredded Christmas paper. They fumed. It was a wonderful time. Dickensonian. Thank you for bringing back such wonderful memories from such a difficult time in my life. Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... Guest guest
I think they are jealous and that is why they are trying to keep us a SECRET! LOL It used to be so much fun to take the Ferry's across to Seattle, but at over $24 round trip now...we don't do it often. But, would definitely take anyone who wants to visit on a Ferry trip. Guest guest
I hope all of you are surviving the big snow storm...We got about 3 in in Chicago so everything looks clean again. I pray you all have enough stuff to get you threw the next few days . I remember in 67 My Mom had stranded people in our home to warm up with coffee before they tried to make it home. The cars and buses where just left all over.It is sad that I dont think you can do that nowadays. I hope everyone who is sick, are feeling better.Remember Peggy says no one is to get sick ....
