Hiya

I am still pre-op for my Leforte I (sx 10/20), but my sx is scheduled

to be done as an outpatient. To my OMS office, it depends on if you

are having one/two jaw(s) done and the extent of the sx scheduled.

I was in hospital 3 days in total. The day of the operation, tuesday,

then the day after wednesday and I went home on the thursday. I think

depends on the surgery you are having, but I would at least stay

overnight as you should have an IV and they should be giving you some

medication through the IV.Don't rush coming home. Make sure you are

comfortable and happy about going home.

I was in hospital for ten days. The day before surgery and nine days after

surgery. Prior to the surgery my surgeon told me I would be in hospital for 3-6

days, but when he spoke to my mum right after he finished doing my surgery he

said I would have to stay at least 8 days.

Hi,

I went in one day (late morning), and came home the next day (mid

afternoon)-I was in the hospital overnight, and the next morning I had

the packing in my nose removed as well as xrays taken. Then I was sent

home! I was fine when I got home too. I missed the IV administration

of medication since that was easier than my figuring it out with the

syringe and ml liquid dosages (I overdosed myself 3x prescribed amount

of percocet the first day!, but was fine (felt better that way than

with the normal dosage!) All in all, being home that soon after

surgery was no big deal. I lucked out with my health insurance- Since

I wasn't in my hospital room longer than 23 hours, I wasn't

technically considered ever " admitted " to the hospital, so I never

paid any hospital copays or anything. Of course, if I was supposed to

stay longer, I would have gladly stayed. I was actually waiting for

the hospital bill to come for months until I realized that there

wasn't going to be one! And because I was in my " room " for less than

23 hours, I was put in great little private room at no extra cost. As

it turned out, that was more lucky for whomever would have ended up

with me had I not been in a private room than it was nice for me. I

was up all night puking blood! Who would want to listen to that?? I

belonged in a private room!! Anyway, for context, I had upper with

split, lower, genio with bone graft, and even a wisdom tooth out!

I guess all doctors are different....

Take care,

Katja :)
