Guest guest
Dee, This surgery is all about patience. I will be 6 weeks post op on Tuesday and still am not at 100%. I would say right now I am right about 80% which I feel is great progress. I know doing my school studies I have to take many breaks because how tired I get. Still at work around 10:30am I get so tired, but manage to pull through each day. I think determination is another factor in recovering. I am determined to get to the end of this journey! I look at each day as a new day and yes I still have bad days, but I just say to myself tomorrow is another day. At 3 weeks where you are at now, there was no way I would of been able to return to work. For one thing, I was running a fever which added to my fatigue and overall lousy feeling. I had to take a nap in the morning and afternoon just to get through the day. I ran a fever for 2 weeks and finally a new antibiotic brought it back to normal. One thing I found frustrating was that since you are starting to look better with the swelling going down, others just don't understand why you can't start resuming your normal routine. To me that was surely frustrating. My husband would always say lets do this and lets do that and I would just have to tell him I am too tired. I also have friends calling me lately wanting to go out and eat some pizza. They just don't get it when I say I am no where close to eating pizza. They give me the line that it's been six weeks how much longer till you can eat normal food. I just hush them up and say it will be months, which at the rate I am going it will be since I was just banded. That's interesting you mentioning about the elastics possibly damaging the plates if your teeth separate too much. Good thing this was caught. I know I have 2 plates in actually right below the eyes. I didn't even ask how many screws are in. I will ask this on Wednesday and let you know. I did see the plates in an x-ray my OS showed me. He didn't mention any screws, but I am sure I have a head full of them since I had a Lefort 3 piece. Your mom just loves you and is protecting her baby girl! I do know that I really enjoy the peace and quiet. Speaking of peace and quiet, my husband just called and is staying up at the airfield he manages in a camper he and his buddy have. They invited me up but I told him nah. So it's going to be a nice and quiet nite tonight with no kids or hubby. Well I have the dog, but he is already out on the floor, so hopefully he will stay that way for the rest of the night! Okay, let me get in a few pages of studying before I tire out!
