Guest guest
Hi , Well, I was only able to use the tape until the rash appeared, and now I cannot. But it's ok, because I actually have decent muscle control in the lower lip and it's not as droopy as it was at first. He actually said that it's more to prevent my picking at my lip than actually supporting it, which I found strange ... why the heck would I pick at my lip? Maybe other patients just can't leave it alone or something, but I certainly can, especially now that I've got this nasty rash. Sorry to hear about your situation, I can't say it doesn't scare me, as I have plates and screws in my upper jaw, and screws in my lower. I even asked my surgeons about the likelihood of loose plates/screws and they said it is very rare, yet I've seen a few people on this site with the same situation. However, I also understand that often, negative information gets posted before positive information does, so we don't hear about all the successful surgeries where the screws and plates DON'T come loose, we only hear about the ones that do. Meanwhile, I'd love any info you can glean to me, as it relates to my own plates and screws .... were they able to tell you why it happened in the first place? Is there something I can do or avoid so that it won't happen to me? eg, more calcium, liquid diet longer, whatever? Hope you are resting and getting back to yourself, my energy is coming back little by little each day, and I am actually feeling pretty good, 6 days post op Wish I could figure out how to upload my digital pics, but I'm really not that tech-savvy. If and when I do, I'll let the group know All my best, Jen Surgery date: 11/20/05 Upper, lower & genio > > > > At first, I thought olive oil was a nice lubricant for the lips, > albeit one that dried quickly > > and needed to be reapplied often.
