Braces off before Christmas !!?!

I just came back from my ortho appt and I'm still in shock. I jokingly

was going to ask him when he thought I might be able to get my braces

off. I never got a chance to ask. He briefly looked at my teeth and

said we could take the braces off next time if it's okay with my

surgeon. I couldn't believe my ears. After 9 1/2 years of braces (this

time around, 17 years total) and six surgeries, I'm finally done!

I still have two bands in triangle configurations on the front but I

don't mind since it'll only be for a few weeks. I go back in four

weeks for another check and if everything looks good, the braces come

off Dec 12. That is, if I get approval from my surgeon. My OS

mentioned once that he wanted my braces to stay on for a full year

after my last surgery to make sure everything was stable but I'm

hoping he forgot about that ;-). This time, I'm really done with

surgeries for good.

I'm trying not to get too excited yet but I can't help it. I've just

been grinning non stop since I got the news.
