Guest guest
Sherry, Bad advice from a doctor? Hard to believe (I say this with the ultimate in sarcasm). It's also hard to believe that your husband could have experienced such a turn-around on SCD and is so willing to throw it away. But, as you said, you can't do anything to change this, it is your husband's decision, and ultimately, if things don't got well with the great complex carbohydrate experience, the two of you can re-implement SCD. The scary part is you don't know if he can return to SCD and start where he left off, or if he'll do too much damage and have a longer, harder journey to wellness. Good luck, Ellen > > Hello this is the first time I have posted > > My Husband has UC been diganosed 3 years ago. If the specialist insists he add carbohydrates, why not do it with fruits, fruit juice, and honey? If he's clearly doing so well on the SCD, he should stick to it. Using more butter (or ghee) and other fats will certainly help build weight as well. His doctor has a point in that he should try to build his weight, but it's perfectly possible to do this within the rules of the SCD. Guest guest
What mystifies me about human nature and doctors, in specific, is how they can be told the Truth of someone's life experience, let it roll of their backs like water without even apparently CONSIDERING it, and spout what they've been told is Reality though it is totally contrary to what you've just told them!! Most doctors, in my experience, have little respect for the intelligence of the patient. If they would really LISTEN with Respect they could Learn so much!!! And that's sad.
