post op 15 years with infection cyst from loose screw & had removed 8/31

Hi All !

I'm new to this group and find it very helpfull, I wish it was around

15 years ago when I had my le forte I. Here's my story; I have

titanium plates and screws (hardware) in the upper jar only. I had a

verticle reduction with rigid fixation 15 yrs. ago, no problems

whatsoever until the last few years I have been c/o severe pain in the

area of the upper jaw near the sinus right where the screws are, CT

revealed a cyst in the jaw bone a tiny one right at the point of the

screw near the plate, so wed. I went in to O.R. for surgery to have

the cyst removed and the hardware removed only to find out that it was

real difficult becasue the jaw bone grew over the plate and the plate

had to be cut out of the bone. none the less surgery is done and im

feeling better, no pain just a swollen face and lots of ice.

anyone else have scres removed if so why? my OS said he has never

heard of it and hardly ever removes screws at all, he said only in the

past 30 years 1 or 2 times and it was done it the office. Take Care.
