Guest guest
Hi Anne,Sorry I'm not from Australia, but I would be happy to be an internet friend. I will be 70 years old next month (gosh darn that sounds old - I don't feel that old). I have 2 sons & 2 daughters, 6 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and we're expecting our first great grandchild in April.I was diagnosed with IPF 4 years ago, Asthma several years, psoriasis since I was in my 20s, and I have Barrett's Esophagus. I'm on oxygen at night along with a CPAP machine. I use oxygen during the day as needed with exertion, which continues to be more and more often. I'm on prednisone (at this time 10mg) but sometimes I have to increase it. I'm taking Hydrocodone for the cough. It helps a lot along with the oxygen. I did well for 3 1/2 years then suddenly I started getting worse. Now I have to have someone clean my house. I still do laundry and cook. I had an appointment at the National Jewish Pulmonary Hospital in Denver, Colorado, but I cancelled it. I just don't believe they would find anything the doctors here in Kansas City have not found. I've decided to stay on the treatment I'm on, try to relax and let nature take its course. As of 6 months ago I had 48% lung capacity, and a 38% DLCO. I have an appointment with my pulmonary Dr. next month - we'll see if things have changed. I'm sorry you have this horrible disease. It sounds like you are doing fairly well at this time. Take care of yourself, and let us know about your treatments, and how you get along. God's blessings.Pat
