Guest guest
I have an open bite and malialignment and have been wanting to get corrective surgery for a long time. I started to aggressively persue surgery once I started experiencing chronic pain in my left jaw joint. First of all, I have been told that my condition could not possible cause pain all by itself. My Dr. has been searching for some other reason for my chronic pain, like soft tissue damage, a major joint deformity, etc. I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced pain from a similar condition to mine? I believe that the pressure my right side puts on my left jaw joint by trying to continue to close even though only my rear-most molars touch when I bite down, is the cause of my pain...I mean, if I bite really hard I can get my jaw to " bend " and get more teeth to touch, which REALLY hurts! Also, he wants to do orthoscopic surgery on both sides of my jaw to look for the so-called mysterious cause of my pain. Has anyone had an orthoscopic/exploratory jaw surgery? Did it help? And for those who have had surgical correction for a problem similar to mine, did it relieve chronic pain? I was told that chances were that it would make my pain worse. I would greatly appreciate any response! Thanks for taking the time to read my long-winded message! -
