Guest guest
Hello folks, First time poster go easy on me. I have been diagnosed with Colitis about 3 years ago. It has progressively gotten worse and I am on asacol and prednisone. Decided the doctors really aren't helping my condition so I figured I would look around and was steered to the SCD diet which I have started two days ago. My questions are about probiotics but namely Lactobacillus Acidophilus in general. Eventually I know I will have to take probiotics to get my gut better. Problem is I am lactose intolerant which I see a lot of you all are but I can't seem to find a brand of Lactobacillus Acidophilus that I can tolerate ........even at small doses I get stomach pain, bloat, gas, diarrhea. I'm talking like just a pinch of it. I have tried the SCD legal version SCdophilus, natren megadophilus and a couple other brands. Can a person be allergic to it and never tolerate it ? or is it something that the gut is so far out of whack that you just have to go slow and it will get better..........I just don't want to do something that will injure me further and no one has been able to help me out with the answer. I understand I should not be taking the probiotics this early in the game and I am not but I need to know the answer for when the time comes.
