Guest guest
Hello Subhashini, I've been in this group a long time, and know a lot of parents have been happy with CT in Connecticut. I'm not sure about the starband location, so hopefully someone with experience there will reply. My daughter wore a starband and had a very good experience. She had brachy (flat in back with extra width) and wore her band for 5 mo. Our starband provider was very experienced, which is key. We were in california at the time. With starband the ortho may do many types of orthotics, and may or may not have a lot of experience banding. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > Anyone from Connecticut > > I have my daughter who is 5.5 months old and has plagio measurement of 10mm . We went to Cranial technologies at Madison CT for evalution and found that the insurance does not pay since out of network and we have to pay 3800$ and they will pay back maximum of 1500. We also went to New England O & P in Danbury CT for evaluation to fit STARband. They also said the price to be 2500$. > > I want to do the best for my baby > > Do let me know of review of anyone there > > Our insurance is BCBS.. Guest guest
Hi and welcome. I live in central CT, and I just finished treatment at Cranial Tech in Madison and know another mom who used them this year. I was very happy with the result and liked the clinicians I worked with. I wasn't even aware of the StarBand location in Danbury! So, I can't comment on it. Do push back on the insurance, especially if you have a PPO plan and not an HMO. I have Empire BCBS, and they originally told me it was out of network and wouldn't be covered at all, then changed their mind and said they would cover it because they didn't have an in-network provider in the area. Is the Star location in-network for you? If not, you could probably use the same argument for either location depending on which you choose. Which BCBS do you have? People have had very different experiences depending on which one they have. Good luck! > > > > Anyone from Connecticut > > > > I have my daughter who is 5.5 months old and has plagio measurement of 10mm .. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Thanks for the info..We have Anthem Bluecard PPO plan, the insurance say that this comes under " Durable Medical eqipment " which they cover only 50% or upto 1500 whether in or out of network. So am not sure about the cost finally.. also analysing the distance we have to travel for every alternate week... Madison is 1.5 hrs drive each way but danbury is 1 hour each way... CT has been recommended by pediatrician also... but i did online research to find another place for second opinion as well as option for us... CT people were like did not even take any measurements for us.. In Starband location the orthotist did take measurement and also said that he is in the field for 25 yrs and doing starband for 5 yrs.. trying to weigh in the Pros and Cons .. so trying to get some info from the group here.. sorry for the long story though Thanks Subhashini > > > > > > Anyone from Connecticut > > > > > > I have my daughter who is 5.5 months old and has plagio measurement of 10mm .
