Guest guest
Hi, Donna Welcome to the group from one newbie to another one. I also have heart disease; I have six stents and had a heart attack before the diagnosis of heart disease. Recently I was able to get some information that I had been looking for from the 1992 about illnesses I had at the time. I was amazed how doctors had dropped the ball on my diagnosis after I had a great internist, who at once after doing some kind of stress test.( I since never have had test like that one since) but never got the outcome of this stress test since he told me at the time of this test that he was leaving the practice that day. I keep wondering if I would have had NSIP and would be on oxygen now if they would have kept treating me right. No, doctor in this medical center was able to tell me what the outcome was. I had breathing problems but my heart rate would jump through the roof. Before this I had been diagnosed I know now with bird fanciers syndrome. What is from what I understand now part of hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. After this everyone seemed to think I had Asthma and many pneumonia’s. Again I had around 1998 a bout with hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. From insulation they had put in my home and I reaction to. Lung disease and heart disease go hand in hand from what I understand now. You are lucky that your cardiologist and pulmonologist are working together. If you did just have a stent placed it would be hard to take you of the Plavix as far as I know you need one year of plavix after a stent placement, for me I have to take Plavix for the rest of my life… I had some complicated stenting done… which really from what I hear now should have given me a bypass. You must be going to tough times, knowing you almost had a heart attack and getting lung disease put right on top of it…. There is a great website that you can look into how many of the drugs for heart disease can also cause lung disease: http://www.pneumotox.com/ and all kind of other medications. It also will be hard for you as it is for me to distinguish what is causing problems like breathlessness’, chest pain. What is your heart and what do you feel is your lungs or your heart and doctors have the same problem… In the last year I never understood why cardiologists work site by site but even in the big city they are far away from each other. I did have my lung biopsy finally, but going right away from what I understand now to a good Hospital. Like Bruce told you about would have the right action to take. I am still untangling a maze of many doctors. While all I should have done gone to UWMC. At least as the secondary doctor. I went to the wrong hospital in the big City… The Doctor Ganesh Raghu nurse who I made an appointment with said not to stay with the pulmonologist in Seattle but have a primary who pulmonologist close to home in case of emergencies. She recommended ones in Bellingham not the one I used to go to but in the same practice which the Doctor Raghu has good professional relations with. I cannot find where you live in a big city or outside where there are small hospitals that do not even understand this disease. They still want to give me antibiotics because my lungs look like I have a constant pneumonia on X-ray. Starting out right would be my best advice for you… Sorry you are going through all this, take care, Erna 1992 bird fanciers syndrome, CAD & MI 2004 ILD 2008 NSIP 2009 Washington State
Guest guest
Erna, Thank you for the welcome. I do wonder if my shortness of breath is heart or lung related. I had an echocardiogram last week and all is good. Guess it is my lungs now. Did the biopsy result in your diagnosis? I live about 3 hours from Chicago. That is where I probably will go.
