I never had hardware removed completely but I did have the distractors taken out and replaced with plates. Initially I had alot of pain and swelling also but it went away much quicker than the original surgery. I was back to work in a week and the swelling went away pretty quickly. I hope your recovery is as quick and you get all this behind you now. Did he fix your lip while he was in there? Wishing you a quick and smooth recovery.
