Guest guest
He is young, at 20 months to be going to school. If you had to send him because you needed to work and there was no one to look after him, then you might not have a choice. It is important for Nicolas to eat well, which I am sure the Nanny can do much better than the school would. He needs to stay healthy so he can grow strong......he might catch a lot of colds and other sicknesses at school. He also needs to get use to other kids and have fun socializing. So if you are going to enrol him in some little classes (like a gym class or a play group) that would be the most perfect thing for him. I would think you are very lucky to have the Nanny who is taking such good care of him and he can go to some small groups for an hour or so a day to get some fun with other kids. So the best would be to not start school and do some little classes. Does that make sense? Take care! Debby B. in Toronto NURSERY SCHOOL Hello Everyone! It's been a while since I write but I have read everyday your posts and keep telling every night encourage stories from all of you to my husband. This message has something related to what is happening to Raven at school. My husband and I are extremely scared of entering Nicolas to the nursery school. He is actually 20 months and the ideal would be for him to enter it in 3 months. However we are afraid he is too small and will be kicked out and maybe not as agile as kids his age (he is 20 months but actually has the size if an 8 months baby - kids his age are a head bigger than him!) Nicolas has a nanny which is all the time with him but we are aware he needs to have more contact with other kids. I work so he is most of the time at home with his nanny, he goes out to the park or he has a bigger friend which he loves playing with. I am not sure if this has happen to someone else in the group. My husband days we should wait until he begins GHT (we should begin the process on July we hope!) and try to begin nursery school for him next year when he gets bigger and stronger. In the meantime we have plans to enter him to a kid's gym. Does anyone has any advice for me or should I let being so overprotected to him and let him start school and share with other kids??? Should I look for something special within the nursery school, special facilities, special methodology??? something? Any advice.please? Guest guest
Hello , -I don't know if Nicolas is like Raven, but at 20 months she seemed to catch EVERYTHING. We were advised to limit her contact with large groups of children during RSV season. Small play groups were fine as long as no one was sick. If this sounds like your life , I would avoid nursery school if this is possible. A playgroup is a more controlled situation. When I worked at a nursery school, some parents would try to mask the childs fevor symptoms with Tylenol so they didn't have to miss work. It's sad but true. You might want to avoid that mess. Good luck! Mollison (Raven, age 5 RSS)
Guest guest
Hi , Glad to hear from you. it has been a while since you last posted. I hope all is well. I read your message about . I have to agree with Deb and Pat. It would probably be best to keep at home with the Nanny. Gym class and play groups would be better socializing events than school. Also, you're right. It would be better to wait until after you start growth hormone therapy, if you can start before the next school year. By the way, when does school start in Columbia? Here in the US, school will be ending in about 3 months. My son did not go to nursery school until he was 3. he only went then so we could get the school based Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. Otherwise, we might have waited until he was 4. I hope this helps.
