Guest guest
Sorry to hear that you will need a 2nd surgery I too needed a 2nd surgery due to an infection and will soon be going in for surgery number three due to the infection. I expressed my fears to my surgeon before my surgery that I was afriad that I would force my mouth open and damage something, my mum was also concerned about that too. But my surgeon and the aneasthesist said that I would be too drugged up to react in that sort of way and that they didn't think it would happen as I am always calm and very sleepy after surgery , but they would re-assure me while I come round and tell me that it's ok. I ended up being totally opposite I was afraid to open my mouth!!! My surgeon has told me many times that what ever surgery I will have next it won't be as bad as the surgery I had! --------------------------------- Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Brad, I am sorry to hear this. I know we were all hoping that this was something that could be more easily dealt with for you. But at least your OS says this time will not be as difficult for you. And once it is done, you should be no more prone to having a repeat. Is there something they can do to keep you from harming the repair after the next anesthesia? I know some people have a tendency to become agitated post op. Did your OS mention what might help you this time out? Anyway, will be watching for your date. Did your OS give you a specific day or just some time next week? Will watch for your posts! Glad you are feeling better now anyway. Guest guest
Hi Brad, I'm sorry to hear that you'll need a second surgery... I'm glad at least you aren't any further along in the healing process than you are. Sounds like you are handling it pretty well... you are very understandibly depressed! I definitely would be... I remember when I woke up after my surgery- I was having problems breathing with all the gunk in my throat so the woman gave me the suction wand which I promptly shoved halfway down my throat. She kept warning me that it's all delicate in there but when ya can't breath, well what else was I going to do?! Anyway there were a lot of other contributing factors, but my upper jaw had all kinds of issues healing and I think healed slightly canted. I've always wondered if I did any harm to it those first moments and hours jamming the suction wand in my mouth and consequently against my upper teeth. What are we going to do?!!? You can't really help how you wake up or what you do then. (Luckily, ortho has pretty much fixed the canted bite and I try to not let it bother me) Anyway, you are in my thoughts and we'll all be wishing the absolute best for you this coming week. Please let us know how you are doing and how the surgery went once you feel up to posting again. And as I said before, I'm really sorry you have to go through a second surgery. I guess it's better to get it over with and get it all corrected- that's much much better than your surgeon settling for less than satisfactory results. You didn't go through any surgery to have a less than perfect outcome. You'll be back to nine days post op in no time and all of this will be behind you. Take good care, Katja > > Well today confirmed what I kinda knew all along, I am 9 days post > op now and I will have to get a second surgery done in 5 days to > correct my bite. > > I visited my surgeon today and he took a look at me and said I am > gonna have to go back in surgery to adjust my bite.
