Guest guest
I mentioned this in a post a few days ago.. Monday I was un-wired and then banded. When he cut my wires, he had to take my splint out. I had to open my mouth for this, and the left side of my jaw did not like that very much and I ended up screaming and crying in pain. My right side felt completely fine when I opened my mouth. Anyway, it's a couple days later and the pain is still unbearable. It's not so much that my jaw hurts..it's my ear and my temple that hurt. The pain is excruciating. I went in to see my surgeon yesterday due to this, and he said there's not much he can suggest except to continue taking the 800mg Advil and using a heating pad. Well, those 2 things were decreasing the pain a little bit for a while..but now they seem to not work at all. He said if the pain is still here by tomorrow, he'll put me on a muscle relaxer..which I don't want to do. I've just had enough of this pain and I feel like I cannot take it anymore. Guest guest
Ashlee, Take your pain pills. If you get mucscle relaxants take them too. If you are able to be relaxed, you tend to heal faster. Also, could you possibly be getting an ear infection? I know it's probably just from them removing the splint but it's worth a shot to have your ear looked at, even if just by your primary care physician. Hope you get feeling better. I've been thinking of you. Connie > I mentioned this in a post a few days ago.. > > Monday I was un-wired and then banded. When he cut my wires, he had > to take my splint out. Guest guest
Hi Ashlee, I am so sorry that you are going through such pain. When it is ongoing like that, I know how demoralizing it can become.... Hang in there, as interminable as it feels right now, this time too will pass. In the meantime, everyone here is cheering you on! I don't know what to say about the possibility of a muscle relaxant- keep us posted and let us know how you are doing.... I hope it will turn out that you won't need the muscle relaxant at all..... Take care, Katja > I mentioned this in a post a few days ago.. > > Monday I was un-wired and then banded. Guest guest
Thanks so much Connie and Katja. Everyone here is so encouraging, and it's so nice to have a place where we can just rant and blow some steam off. I'll certainly post updates...and hopefully they will bring good news soon. ~Ash
Guest guest
Hi Ashlee, I've taken muscle relaxers before and they are a great relief. If they're offered, take them! Try not to get too upset, that makes the pain worse. Relax if you can and do anything that helps make you more comfortable. Hope things get better for you soon. I couldn't imagine going for days with excruciating pain. Keep bugging your surgeon if it doesn't get better. > I mentioned this in a post a few days ago.. > > Monday I was un-wired and then banded.
