Guest guest
Ya know...I think as people that have HAD obesity problems most of our lives, we have spent a whole lot of time working on our " inner selves. " I can't speak for all, but my cousin and I had this conversation sometime back It was after I had lost 150 lbs...and looked normal. She saw my picture and ranted and raved about it..and said how is your hubby going to keep his hands off you NOW? I was deeply offended by her comment...and told her so. I asked her what ever made her think that just because I am thin, I am more attractive to my life mate than I was before? It made NO difference to him. She did some heavy soul searching...and told me that she realized that for the first time, while she was busy primping on the outside...*I* was doing work on my insides! I hadn't even thought about that...but ya know..I think she is right. While I could only do so much cosmetic patching on the outside when I was MO....I WAS working on the person I really am on the inside. She recognized the deficit in herself...and for both of us, this was a bit of an epiphany! Regards~ Jacque are we ourselves prejudice against obese people? have we internalized the self loathing so much that now that we are smaller, we have turned it outward? how many of us who have reached goal date obese men/women?
