Guest guest
I have not completely followed this thread but since it is about possible yeast - has anyone tried/is it legal to use an enzyme like Candizyme for yeast? I gave this to my son and it worked great along with Digest Gold. We used DeFalice's (www.enzymestuff.com) " low and slow " method for him starting with a half dose of something mild like lacto, working up to full doses of DG and then the Candizyme - took awhile to work him up, but he took full doses of Candizyme and DG for a LONG time with every meal and we saw lots of improvement (he was also on a very large dose of probiotics - D-lactate free). He is still GF/Cf and will be SCD once I am on long enough to learn to bake this way so he can fully heal, but I believe we handled the yeast. ~ Janine Janine Burnham Ruth - " Make conscience choices based on what you believe and your life will be a reflection of who you are. Guest guest
Actually, IME and that of others, s. boulardii works better than something like Candex/Candizyme. I used Nystatin last year and Candex - and both of them gave me daily unpleasant die off. S. boulardii, IME, gets better results, and if you work up slowly, you don't experience the die off. Or barely any. Mara > I have not completely followed this thread but since it is about possible > yeast - has anyone tried/is it legal to use an enzyme like Candizyme for > yeast? Guest guest
Mara, I'm brand new to the SCD as of a week ago per doctor's orders. I have yeast problems too and wonder about the boulardii. I don't know anything about it but that it's a probiotic, right? I have 2 bottles of Candex sitting right here that I've been debating back / forth on to try, but tired of die off stuff. Can you tell me how much of the boulardii you take for yeast? And best place to get it? Thanks! Tamara Slack Missouri

And best place to get it? It's a non-colonizing probiotic yeast. With boulardii, start with 1 - or if you are very sensitive, split a capsule and start with half - and take for a few days or a week and then continue to add slowly until you notice a change in your bowel habits or the way you feel. Take it away from food - I take it last thing at night or first thing in the morning (or sometimes in the middle of the night if I happen to wake up). I don't know if this is the *best* place to get it, but it's good enough for me and relatively inexpensive: put boulardii in search at netnutri.com.
