Guest guest
That is incredible! Having lived in Japan for 4 years, I was always used to their stuff costing us A LOT more then we were used to paying. $20 American dollars for a melon the size of a small ball...too much for my pocket book. And going out to dinner was rarely done, except if it was a noodle shop. Noodles were cheaper....about $7 or $8 a bowl. This was in 1979-1983 and I know the dollar is worth even less now then it was then. So, in other words, for a native Chinese, the meal would be the equivalent of our spending more than $40. --Steve
