Guest guest
Thank you for your concern and your thoughts. We are fine. Lots of folks around me got plenty wet. I do have some friends whose homes were destroyed, as well -- and not just those who insist upon building on barrier islands. But when we see what happened in Mississippi and in New Orleans... what can I say? What can anyone say? We try to do what little we can to help our neighbors who suffer so, and we are very grateful to have been spared. I agree, that if you get any kind of a warning sensation from an OS (or any other kind of surgeon or physician, for that matter) it's good to back off, unless it's a matter of immediate life and death concern. Which these procedures seldom if ever are. Cammie > > Been thinking about you hope all is well and that your > home and you are ok. Just sending out a little e mail to see > if your ok. Try this one. Guest guest
Cammie, Sorry to hear of your friends whose homes were destroyed. Thank god they still are alive. I live in Oregon in a heavily wooded area. We don't have homes destroyed by storms and water, just the opposite, by fires. Two weeks ago another forest fire took out quite a few homes. Being a former evacuee two years ago due to a major fire I feel for your friends. Just know that you can never tell them enough how happy you are that they are safe, and don't give up on offering to help. That is what helped carry my family and I through the weeks of being gone from our home. Our friends made all the difference. We were fortunate, we had a house to come home to. But you can still help to ease their loss. All the best wishes. Connie > > > > Been thinking about you hope all is well and that your > > home and you are ok. Guest guest
As Gilda Radner said, It's always something. I have seen those terrible fires, on the television, and they must be terrifying. Tornadoes and earthquakes likewise. At least with a hurricane, we usually have considerable warning.... Time to get those big, tumbly trees down, if one can scrape up the $$$. (I was lucky on that score, too.) People really are, for the most part, incredibly concerned, thoughtful and caring, I conclude. There have been outpourings of support, ranging from people donating clothing to big trucks of water, ice and food. But this one just seems to be overwhelming. Poor New Orleans. Poor Biloxi. Poor Waveland. Poor, shattered, once beautiful Gulf Coast. My heart breaks for all those still in agonies, but somehow it was oddly reassuring to learn that most of the animals in the Audubon Zoo had made it through well. Thank you again for your concern.
