Guest guest
Hi Connie, I know what you mean by feeling like you are taking steps backward. I went to the OS today and he pretty much completely banded me shut. I had a Lefort 3-piece on June 28th. He is working so hard to correct a crossbite before sending me back to my OD. I have to wear my bands 24/7 also. Being that I can barely open my mouth, I will have to start the liquid and very soft food diet once again. I was almost at the point of eating a french fry cut up in very tiny pieces. Oh well, I guess those days are over for awhile longer!! At least you have progressed as far as making it back to your OD. I have yet to see my OD since surgery. How many bands do you have in? I have 3 bands total. The one in the front forms a big square whereas the back two form triangles. The back bands are a bit thicker and smaller than the front band. I am not sure what the heck zebra and bear bands are that you mentioned. Hang in there Texas Connie, it will get better each day!! I see that big juicy hamburger in our future!! --Caboose > My upper and lower jaw surgerys were on 6/22. OK, first I had " zebra " rubber bands on each side from the OS. Then, the OD changed me to " bears " on the left and " zebras " on the right (here I am stuck in the middle again...) Next, it was " bears " on both sides, on the left just at night and all the time on the right with changing them 3 times a day. > > Today, back to the OD and I NOW have teeny, tiny rubber bands-- tikis---- on both sides to pull the lower jaw back " just a little " so the bottom teeth don't strike the back of the top teeth in the front. gotta wear them 24/7 and change 3X a day. > > Just when I feel like I am going forward, then I take two steps back....not really complaining. My mouth is sore (again) from the wire changes, new brackets and new wires and now the teeny-tiny rubber bands...BIG SIGH.... > > I am truly looking forward to the day that I can grab a burger, open wide and CHOMP into it! Months to go, I know, but still looking forward! > > Now that there is another Connie, I'll sign off as.... > > Texas Connie > > >
